Cyclist Discovers Cycling Treasure in Taiwan

Australia's Cyclist magazine recently completed a envy-inducing navigation of Taiwan. While the name of the country may be familiar to almost every cyclist by virtue of the fact that their bike was in all likelihood manufactured on the island, few will likely recognise the place as a wonderland of cycling routes.

If the feedback from the Cyclist team is anything to go by, that is something that will soon change.

Guided by Attaquer's exclusive Taiwanese dealer, Ayao Bike, Cyclist explored the steep, but beautifully surfaced roads around Taipei in the closing days of their trip. As the photos by Tim Bardsley-Smith below reveal, Taipei offers hours of lush riding just minutes from one of the most densely populated cities in the world.

"Taipei offers the best of both worlds. Sitting at the belly of a mountainous bowl, city-slickers and holiday makers can have their cake and burn its contained energy up the endless ascents within riding distance from the city centre. It’s this trait that initially drew us to explore Taiwan a little further."
