From Oslo to Copenhagen

Two days. Two cities. One long ride.

Join Ambassador Martin Kjellemar and his friend Emanuel for 620 kilometres from Oslo to Copenhagen over two days. The route is simple —open roads, rolling hills, and coastal stretches, just with occasional constant headwind to keep them honest.

Emaunel and I kicked off our ride from the Oslo Opera House in perfect 20-degree weather, quickly settling into a strong pace. After 130km, we took our first break as temperatures soared to nearly 30 degrees, enjoying cold drinks and ice cream before hitting the smooth tarmac and champagne gravel.

After 220km, we refueled with a hearty meal, which was essential for tackling the headwinds and cramps that followed. A flat tire added to the challenge, but Emaunel's support helped me push through the final stretch. We arrived in Gothenburg around 8 PM, exhausted but motivated by dinner with friends.

The next morning began early with Swedish meatballs and pancakes before we hit the road again. Despite some light rain and a quick puncture, we made good time to Varberg for snacks. After 160km, we stopped for hamburgers, which energized us for the ride to Helsingborg and the ferry to Denmark.

With just 70km left, I found a fast Aussie rider to draft into Copenhagen, where we arrived tired but triumphant. Reflecting on this incredible journey, I’m proud of what we accomplished and grateful for the support along the way, already planning our next epic bike trip!
